Malcolm Spellman, the head writer and creator of Disney+ and Marvel's "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier", is developing a fourth installment of the Captain America film franchise for Marvel Studios.

Spellman will also co-write the script along with Dalan Musson, a staff writer on Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

No director or castings for the project are officially known.

Chris Evans played Steve Rogers, who later on became Captain America in the previous Marvel movies.

He first appeared in "Captain America: The First Avenger" as the weak and frail Rogers, a kid from Brooklyn who wanted to stand up to bullies.

The hero's journey to becoming the Captain America began when he was injected with the super-soldier serum.  Along the way, he befriended Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, a loyal friend to Rogers, who fought along with him to protect the innocent.

"Avengers: Endgame" closed a lot of loose ends and included new beginnings, including an old Rogers choosing Sam as the next Captain America.

"The Falcon and the Winter Soldier", which also stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/the Winter Soldier, rose the question of who is entitled to carry the shield or be Captain America. The movie is likely to continue the story of Wilson and the current wielder of the shield.
