Canada Approves Egypt's Heritage Month Celebration in July

Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Canada, approved Egyptian civilization and heritage's celebration on Friday July.

The decision is set to be applied later in all Canadian cities.

In the course of the discussions held in Canada, the Legislative Assembly of Ontario praised the successful models of Egyptian - Canadian figures like Hoda El Maraghy, an Egyptian-Canadian professor, director of the Intelligent Manufacturing Systems Center at the University of Windsor and Egyptian actor Mena Massoud.

Egypt's Minister of Immigration and Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram congratulated Egyptian MP Sharif Sabaawi for his efforts in this issue.

“ We are proud of those Egyptians, who led the Legislative of Ontario to approve the proposal which was submitted by Sharif Sabaawi," the minister said.This decision will allow the Egyptian community in Ontario to celebrate their culture and heritage in July," she added.

It is worth mentioning that Makram previously met Minister of Antiquities Khaled al-Anany and Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem to discuss Canadian Member of Parliament Sherif Sabawy’s proposal to the parliament to mark the month of July as Egyptian Heritage Month.
