'Camp David 40' to be discussed at AUC

Cairo - September 16 (SEE): AUC will held a panel discussion, titled “Camp David at 40,” on Tuesday, September 18, from 09:00 am to 01:00 pm in Oriental Hall, AUC Tahrir Square.

The panel will discuss the Camp David Accords, 40 years later, in light of its current regional order. The one-day conference will discuss the making of the Camp David agreement through the insider views of experts and politicians who took part of the signing in 1978. The panel will also review and analyze the regional and international impact of Camp David in modern day history.

An official statement from the University said that a special message from former President of the United States of America, Jimmy Carter, will be announced during the conference.

Speakers are Nabil Elaraby, former Egyptian minister of foreign affairs, former secretary general of the League of Arab States; William Quandt, professor emeritus, University of Virginia, former staff, National Security Council; Basma Kodmani, cofounder and executive director, Arab Reform Initiative and Shibley Telhami, Anwar Sadat chair for Peace and Development, University of Maryland. The sessions will be chaired by Nabil Fahmy, dean of the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at The American University in Cairo, former Egyptian minister of foreign affairs and Bahgat Korany, director, AUC Forum.
