California Hosts 9th Annual Ceremony of Egyptian Cancer Network

U.S. California will witness the ninth annual ceremony of the Egyptian Cancer Network (ECN) on Sunday; supporting cancer patients in Egypt with an additional regard to children.

In exclusive statements to Sada El-Balad, the ENC Chairman Dr. Hesham El Seify stressed that the Ministry of Immigration and Expatriates, led by Minister Nabila Makram, will take part in the ceremony.

“Makram will deliver a speech tomorrow,” Seify said.

He noted that 200 Egyptian expats living in the United States will participate in the ceremony including Dr. Hesham El Askary, the Remote Sensing Professor at Chapman University.

The ceremony’s revenue will go for cancer hospitals in Egypt; most importantly the children cancer hospitals.

Honorable Board, Members

The ECN is a nonprofit organization based in California, USA. It’s headed by El Seify, Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University of California.

The board of directors includes Egyptian notable doctors such as Dr. Sherif Aboul Naga, Dr. Hesham El Khazendar and Dr. Safwan Ali, and two American doctors; Dr. Mark Kiran, and Dr. Leslie Lehmann.

The network is composed of an advisory board and a media advisory committee. Among the members, there are:

  • Famous Space Scientist and Geologist Dr. Farouk El Baz
  • Scientist Dr. Mostafa El Sayed
  • Dr. Ayman Nour Eddin
  • Dr. Maged Malek

  • Dr. Osama Gaber
  • Dr. Mohamed Aboul Nasr
  • Dr. Randa Fahmi
  • The media committee embraces a large number of Egyptian and American physicians specialized in  oncology.

    Egyptian Cancer Network Contributions 

    The ECN has contributed to several medical projects in Egypt; most notably supporting expansions constructions in 57357 Hospital, offering drugs and chemotherapy for Faqous Oncology Center, supporting training of senior undergraduates of various Egyptian Medicine Colleges abroad and providing leukemia patients with Mp6 drug.

    National Cancer Institute Attack

    It’s noteworthy that the ECN provided the National Cancer Institute in Cairo with 1.2 million pounds following the treacherous terrorist attack in last August.

    Moreover, the organization backed some of the victims’ families of security men whose relatives died while they were performing their duty in honor and sincerity.
