Cairo University team is due to attend the finals of the global Entrepreneurship Competition Enactus in California, USA after winning the first spot in Egypt.

More than 6,500 students from 47 local and private universities participated in the competition this season.

President of Cairo University Mohamed Osman El-Khasht praised the team and affirmed his complete support for the students in their upcoming event next November.

"We hope that the idea of entrepreneurship will spread from being linked to governmental jobs to private businesses," El Khasht said, adding that development in Europe and Southeast Asia were linked to the efforts of governments, inpiduals initiatives, and entrepreneurship.

In addition, the University of 6 October and Ain Shams won the second and third position in the local competition.

The competition is organized every year with the participation of public and private universities as well as higher institutes. Each university introduces innovative projects that address the challenges and problems of the society in the presence of companies' CEOs.

Heads of the firms pick the most effective team depending on three factors: entrepreneurship, raising the living conditions of citizens, taking into consideration environmental and economic factors, as well as safety of projects.

Enactus is a non-profit international student organization that has branches in most universities. It aims at connecting university students, faculty members, and businessmen in one workshop in order to benefit from the scientific aspects and experiences of faculty members and to provide practical training opportunities for students.
