Under the patronage of the Minister of Culture Dr. Enas Abdel-Dayem, the Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF) has concluded a successful 52nd edition.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture and managed by the Egyptian General Authority for Books, the fair took place between 30th June and 15th July at the Egyptian International Exhibition Centre.

In order to ensure the safety of guests, visitors, and exhibitors, strict precautionary measures were enforced throughout the event in line with Egypt's government's efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19.

A massive ceremony to honor the winners of the 52nd CIBF Award was also held as part of the fair’s program, while the winners were also featured in a panel discussion that highlighted their literary and cultural achievements.

Before the ceremony began, Sada Elbald English (SEE) visited the fair halls and talked to a number of publishers, young authors, and illustrators about their journeys.

Young writer Ibrahim Ahmed Issa is a Computer Science graduate, who wrote two volumes in the Morocco history series, 'ALhag Alman'. It took him years of research and hard work to write these books.

"New Egyptian writers are getting more opportunities now. Books on history and research are garnering more popularity and the writers are trying their best," Issa said.

"This fair was held to renew industry optimism and aimed to restore a sense of normalcy in the lives of people, amid the disruptions caused by Covid-19," Ahmed Sherief, marketing manager of Dar ElSama for book distributions told SEE.

On the other hand, Lebanon's publisher Tamam Ouidat expressed her happiness to showcase her books in this exception and to be visiting Egypt once again, saying she loves its people.
