In connection with the joint statement made by a number of countries today, March 12, at the Human Rights Council, which included allegations about the human rights situation in Egypt; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its complete rejection of the contents of that statement of transmitted rumors and gossip based on inaccurate information.

The ministry stressed that it was extremely strange and disapproving of the lack of use of facts and information clarified to these countries about the human rights situation in Egypt.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms the need for a thorough review of such rejected speech, calling on these countries to stop directing accusations that only express an unpalatable political orientation and include fallacies without grounds.

It also assures that it is also unacceptable to be easy going by making such a statement that does not take into account the comprehensive Egyptian efforts in the field of human rights in all its political, economic, and social aspects, and what has been achieved in this regard during the past years.

Egypt, through its mission in Geneva, is expected to present a statement before the Human Rights Council, which will highlight the deficiencies within those countries that have a joint statement, including practices that are inconsistent with human rights principles.

The ministry also reaffirms that the issue of human rights involves a process of permanent development in which no country has reached the point of perfection, and no country can establish itself as a resident or arbiter in this regard.
