Wed 20 Mar 2024 | 07:58 PM

On Wednesday,  Judge Ahmed Abdel Aziz Qatlan of the Cairo Court of Appeals, the appointed investigator in the high-profile foreign funding case, ruled that there is insufficient evidence to pursue criminal charges against five prominent organizations:

Initiative Center for Studies and Consultation

Arabic Network for Human Rights Information

Arab Organization for Penal Reform

Cairo Center for Human Rights Studies

El Nadeem Center for Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence

As a result of this ruling, the judge ordered the removal of travel restrictions and asset freeze measures for individuals linked to these groups.

In a detailed press release, Judge Qatlan highlighted that this decision brings the total number of organizations, associations, and entities absolved in the 2011 Case No. 173 to 85. This judgment effectively concludes the long-standing legal proceedings, signaling an end to the extensive investigations that have encompassed these organizations since 2011.
