CAF Fines Egypt's Zamalek for Fans Misconduct

The Confederation of African Football has fined Egypt's Zamalek $22.500 thousand by on Tuesday. The decision by CAF's Disciplinary Committee came as a punishment for the misconduct of the White Knights' fans.

"The Disciplinary Committee has decided to fine Zamalek $22.500 thousand during a meeting held on Wednesday, July 3," CAF said on its official website.

The Whites' fans launched fireworks and threw bottles onto the pitch during the team's clash against RS Berkane at Burj Al-Arab stadium, where Zamalek clinched their first Confederation Cup title in the history after defeating the Moroccan side on Penalties (5-3).

The Cairo giants lost the first leg in Morocco 0-1, but the Whites managed to hit Berkane's net in the second leg, before moving to the penalty shoot-out.

This season, the Confederation Cup champions will take part in the CAF Champions League as they will kick off their campaign against Dekedaha on Sunday, 11 August in the preliminary stage.The Whites failed to claim the Egyptian Premier League this season as they finished second with 72 points.

The White Knights named their 28-man squad for the upcoming 2019-2020 tournament.

The squad is as follows:

Defenders: Hazem Imam – Hamdi Alnqaz – Mahmoud Alaa – Mahmoud Hamdi “Alonsh” – Mohammed Abdul Ghani – Mohammed Abdul Salam – Abdullah Guma – Mohammed Abdul Shafi.

Midfielder: Tarek Hamed – Farajani Sassi – Mahmoud Abdel Aziz – Mohamed Hassan – Youssef Obama – Islam Gaber – Mohamed Antar – Ayman Hefny – Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” – Karim Bambo – Mahmoud Shikabala – Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Kahraba – Mustafa Fathi.

Forwards: Omar Al-Saeed – Mustafa Mohammed – Khaled Boutayb – Ashraf Ben Sharqi.
