Cadillac Launches Electric SUV with New Design

Cadillac unveiled Cadillac electric vehicle (EV) that will offer Tesla Inc-like range. According to Steve Carlisle the GM North America president Led by Lyriq, it  will redefine American luxury over the next decade with a new portfolio of transformative EVs.

It will offer the Lyriq in rear-wheel- and all-wheel-drive configurations, as well as an enhanced version of Super Cruise, its hands-free driver-assistance system.

The feature will be usable on more than 200,000 miles of highway and offer automatic lane-changing capability. The Lyriq also will be able to park itself.

Its touch screen is a 33-inch panel that stretches across the cockpit and boasts twice the resolution of a 4K television, similar to what Cadillac will offer in its new Escalade sport utility vehicle (SUV) going on sale later this year.

In addition to being fully electric, the Lyriq also introduces new technologies and a new design style that will be seen on future electric Cadillacs, according to GM. The Lyriq will be able to park itself or pull out of a parking space with no one inside the car, a capability similar to one offered by Tesla (TSLA).

It will also have the latest version of Super Cruise, GM's semi-autonomous driving system which allows drivers to completely take their hands off the steering for long stretches along major highways.

According to GM , the Lyriq will go into production in late 2022. While the company wouldn't provide details about its price, a GM spokesperson said it will be competitive with similar luxury SUVs, including gasoline-powered ones. On May 2019, Cadillac announced the new 2020 Cadillac CT5-V sports sedan, at Detroit event, according to Auto News.

Cadillac product marketing director Jason Sledziewski, explained that sedans are an important part of Cadillac’s business because they allow it to continue building a reputation for performance-oriented vehicles such as; the outgoing ATS-V and CTS-V.

2020  CT5-V

CT5 version is based on the Alpha platform that also underpins the Camaro. But the car may want to push its more unique powertrains such as; the twin-turbo, double-overhead-cam 4.2-liter V8. In the CT6-V. In the CT6-V, it makes 550 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque.

Noteworthy, 2019  CT6, it’s stylish atechnological leader and it has one of the industry’s most advanced semi autonomous driver assist systems as well as it adopts a new twin turbocharged V-8 engine.

The 2019 traditional vertical taillights, by adding an element that bleeds into the trunk where it meets a chrome strip that spans the width of the lid. It’s less successful than the updated fascia the front end looks wider, but the new rear looks too narrow.
