Minister of Trade and Industry Nevin Gamea said that the building materials sector accounts for more than 24.5% of the total value of Egyptian exports, which supports the sector's growth opportunities during the coming period.

During her participation in the activities of the "Builders of Egypt" Forum in its sixth session, Gamea indicated that Egyptian building materials exports have promising opportunities to be actively involved in reconstruction projects in neighboring countries such as Iraq, Libya, Syria and Jordan.

She noted that the government, during the last period, took significant steps in the path of supporting the sector, as it launched the first program to lift the export burdens on the ceramic sector, in light of the excellence of this industry and the high proportion of the local component in it to more than 90%.

She added that the ministry is currently working on stimulating the export movement, especially for promising African markets, by introducing the investment and export opportunities available there, with the help of the ministry's commercial representation offices located in the continent. The Minister pointed out that the ministry had implemented a clear strategy, during the last period, to restructure the commercial representation offices to ensure the encouragement of exports and the assistance of Egyptian companies abroad.

The Minister of Trade and Industry continued, that there are also promising opportunities for building materials companies by participating in the projects of the "Decent Life" Initiative, which includes the establishment of more than 317 industrial complexes through out the country.
