Dr. Safaa Hashem, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the British University in Egypt (BUE), stated that most citizens cannot buy high-priced face mask, so we assure and advise them to use the traditional cotton one, as its price is affordable to all, but they must be boiled and ironed every day.

This came during a health awareness symposium organized by the BUE, for students and workers to protect themselves against the new Coronavirus, under the patronage of the industrialist Mohamed Farid Khamis, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the BUE, in the presence of Professor Ahmed Hamad, the BUE President, deans and faculty members.

The seminar tackled ways people can protect themselves from Coronavirus via maintaining healthy habits along with good healthy nutrition, as it contributes to strengthening the immune system, which saves people from becoming infected with this deadly disease.

Dr. Hamad said, “We are working to protect students and all university employees from this virus and we are harnessing all our capabilities for this mission.”

He added that the health awareness campaign came within the framework of the university's social responsibility and its role in disseminating culture and raising awareness among citizens.

On her part, Dr. Hashem explained that the inpidual's interest in strengthening his immune system is the best way to limit the spread of the virus.

Moreover, she added that healthy nutrition, exposure to the sun and drinking hot water help prevent infection.

“The novel coronavirus cannot resist the high temperature, so we should avoid eating ice cream, and maintaining the use of face masks among large crowds,” she continued.
