On January 30, the k-pop star visited a hospital emergency room for a thorough examination after experiencing sudden abdominal pain and a mild sore throat. Later on, he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and also tested positive for COVID-19.

Other members; RM, Jin, and Suga tested positive for the virus after they returned in late December to South Korea from the group’s first pandemic-era concerts in the US. The agency affirmed that they had fully recovered.

In a new statement on Weverse, BigHit Music said: “RM and Jin, who had been receiving treatment from home for the past ten days from Saturday, December 25, are now able to return to their daily activities.”
