American pop star Britney Spears hinted that she is not ready yet to return to music after 13 years under guardianship.

That period kept Spears out of control of her personal, financial, and business affairs and left her in a state of gear in the entertainment world.

In a long post on Instagram, Spears, 40, who was emancipated last month from her father's guardianship in 2008, said; "I want to give myself a little more push and do the things that scare me but not so much" in 2022."

The pop star, whose last gig was in October 2018, wrote: "I think it seems strange to most people why I'm not back in music yet. People have no idea how terrible things they have done to me personally have affected me, and after what I have been through I feel afraid of people and the music world."

She complained to the judge in charge of her guardianship case earlier this year, as she found her father, James Spears, to be controlling and taking away her will.

A court lifted James Spears' custody of his daughter. He said he was only aiming to help his daughter get her career back after she suffered psychological problems in 2007 and that he always acted in her best interest. He never revealed the exact nature of these problems.

The "Piece of Me" singer is engaged to her boyfriend, Sam Asghari.
