US pop singer Britney Spears is under investigation for battery after allegedly being involved in a physical dispute with one of her staffers in her California home.
An employee of Spears’ called the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department claiming they were struck by the singer during a dispute on Monday morning (August 16).
Officers conducted an investigation into the dispute that took place at the singer’s Thousand Oaks home, and will forward the findings to the Ventura County District Attorney.
In a press statement, Spears’ lawyer Mathew Rosengart called the claim a "sensational tabloid fodder" and nothing more than a manufactured ‘he said she said’ regarding a cell phone, with no striking and obviously no injury whatsoever.
He added that anyone can make an accusation, but this should have been closed immediately.
Rosengart credited the Sheriff’s office for acknowledging the incident as a ‘very minor misdemeanor’ and confirmed that there were no injuries, noting that the case wouldn't be reported if it did not involve Britney Spears.
The accusation comes a little over a week after Spears got her biggest win so far in the legal battle over her controversial conservatorship, with her father Jamie Spears reportedly set to step down as co-conservator.
