Osama Rabie, head of Suez canal Authority (SCA) announced on Monday the success of the efforts made to re-float the stranded container vessel that had been blocking the Suez Canal for about a week.

In a statement, he added that the traffic in Suez canal has been resumed to normal.

The moon was full and the tide was high, late Sunday, yet, the Italian tug Carlo Magno was late for her schedule with Ever Given. The attempt to re-float was little delayed but, the Dutch Alp Guard arrived on time to continue work along the Egyptian tugboats and dredgers to finally free the giant vessel early on Monday.

Inchcape Shipping Services said the stranded container vessel that had been blocking the Suez Canal for about a week re-floated on Monday and is currently being secured, raising expectations that the vital waterway will soon reopen.

Inchcape, a global offshore services company said on Twitter that the vessel was successfully re-floated at 4.30 am local time and was secured for the time being.

Also, tracking service “VesselFinder” changed the state of the vessel on its website to “under way”.

Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority announced on Monday, that the Ever Given container ship has successfully floated after the ship responded to the towing maneuvers, where the ship’s course was significantly modified by 80% and the stern of the ship was away from the shore by a distance of 102 meters instead of the earlier 4 meters.

The maneuvers are scheduled to resume as the water level rises to its maximum height at 11:30 a.m., reaching 2 meters, allowing the ship’s course to be completely modified to the midway.
