On Tuesday, the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) signed the closing statement of the 41st Gulf summit.

The GCC summit kicked off today in the Saudi city of Al-Ula, under the chairmanship of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Among the participants were, Bahrain’s crown prince, Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Qatari Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum.

Moreover, Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry attended the summit.

The GCC member states also inked the Al-Ula agreement, which is expected to end the rift between Gulf states and Doha.

In 2017, the Arab Quartet which consists of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the UAE cut diplomatic and transportation links with Qatar, accusing it of supporting militant groups.
