The Supreme Administrative Committee of Cairo International Book Fair held its first meeting headed by Dr Inas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture.

The meeting discussed the latest developments of Corona pandemic in the world and its impact on the map of book fairs worldwide- the reason that led to the cancellation or postponement of the international fairs.

In the same context, the committee discussed the participation of the international institutions and the Arab and foreign publishers.

The Members of the committee expected that it will be difficult to move between countries, especially in the winter season, which may affect the external participation in the book fair.

The Committee is keen to hold Cairo International Book Fair since it is a prominent international cultural event presenting an honorable image of Egypt and for supporting the publishing and book industry.

The committee decided to postpone Cairo International Book Fair for this year, to be held from Wednesday, 30 June 2021, to Thursday,15 July 2021- with extra four days more than the usual.

Egypt and Greece coordinated to postpone the participation of Greece -as the guest of honor of Cairo International Book Fair – to be held the next edition, assuring the depth of the historical and cultural relations between Egypt and Greece.

It is worthy of note that the Supreme Administrative Committee and the Supreme Advisory Committee will begin holding their meetings periodically to prepare the executive plans for the Fair, taking into account the latest emerging developments.
