Ahmed Abdullah Zayed Elected As New Director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina

Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, headed the meeting of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Board of Trustees; on behalf of Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in the presence of Enas Abdel Dayem, the Minister of Culture.

Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the great role played by the library as a light for the dissemination of thought and culture, pointing to its long history as one of the largest and most distinguished cultural institutions in Egypt and the world.

The Minister and the attendees thanked Mostafa El Feki for his good management of this prestigious institution during the past five years, and for working to achieve a partnership with relevant international institutions to serve the role of the library, wishing him success and payment during the coming period.

Abdel Ghaffar praised the biography of Zayed, and his enrichment of knowledge, thought and culture, referring to his aspiration for his success during the coming period in continuing excellence by performing his role in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

The minister of culture congratulated Zayed, referring to his scientific excellence and his great services as a member of the Supreme Council of Culture, praising his intellectual contributions in his field and scientific specialization.

It is worth mentioning that Zayed is a professor of political sociology at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, and a member of the Senate and the National Council for Women.

He held the position of former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, director of the Center for Research and Social Studies at the faculty, and also served as the former cultural advisor to Egypt in Riyadh.

Zayed has published a number of books, scientific and journalistic articles, and translated books.
