The United States (US) stressed the importance of the peaceful restoration of democracy in Venezuela, holding of free and fair elections, and respect for the rights and freedoms of all Venezuelans.
This came during a phone call between US Secretary of State and Venezuelan Interim President Juan Guaidó.
During the phone call, Blinken reiterated the US' commitment to the talks between the regime of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and the opposition coalition "Unified Platform" as the best way for a return to democracy and resolving the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, according to a statetment issued by US departmant of state.
Moreover, Blinken also reaffirmed US support for the 2015 democratically elected National Assembly and for Guaidó as interim president of Venezuela.
