Black Eyed Peas to Perform First-Ever Concert in Egypt on Saturday

American band Black Eyed Peas will perform tomorrow, Saturday, their first-ever concert at the Great Pyramids of Giza.

The musical group was founded in 1995 and consists of rappers will.i.am, Taboo, and apl.de.ap.

Filipino singer-songwriter J. Rey Soul joined the band in 2018.

In a new interview, The Black Eyed Peas shared from their hotel in Cairo their excitement about the upcoming concert which will be watched by millions on LIVENow.

The concert is set to begin at 7:00 PM (Cairo local time).

Black Eyed Peas noted that it has been a great two weeks of performing in front of live audiences again and described the experience as "pretty surreal and fantastic".

"To end off our run here in Cairo, It is going to be an amazing experience," Taboo said.

Will.i.am, one of the world's biggest music moguls, said the trip was inspired by his favorite disco act, noting he grew up listening to Earth, Wind & Fire, and just staring at the album covers because it was full of Egyptology.

He shared that his personal love for Earth, Wind & Fire made him always dream about coming to Egypt and play near the pyramids.

The Black Eyed Peas also explained that their shows after a little different now with backstage "mask police" and constant PCR testing, noting their venues are safe places to be.

Taboo noted that he loves the feeling of going to a work environment, such as being provided with PCR tests and knowing as well as taking the proper precautions with the staff and the crew that is around the band as well.

"We are trying to be as mindful and as safe as possible." he stated.

However, apl.de.ap revealed that the transport between venues is where protocols are not as tight as they are when they are in the building or outside the building, when everybody is in tight proximity and it is loose, noting: "That is where the concern is".

Increase Sales

Spotify announced there was a 48% increase in the number of listeners in Egypt to the songs of the famous band following the announcement of the concert.

Data released by Spotify revealed the most listened-to songs were "Girl Like Me ft. Shakira", "Pump It", "I Gotta Feeling", "RITMO (Bad Boys For Life) ft J Balvin", and "Hit It ft. Lele Pons and Saweetie".

The data also showed Cairo was the city with the most listeners in Egypt.
