US President-elect Joe Biden said on Tuesday he will be open to holding a meeting with President Donald Trump as part of the transition period, the Hill newspaper reported.

"Of course I would, if he asked," he told reporters when asked if he would meet with Trump. Meanwhile, the White House declined to comment on the matter.

The U.S. President-elect stated on Tuesday that his presidential term would not be a “third term” of former President Barack Obama, pointing out that he will not pursue criminal investigations into President Donald Trump once he takes office.

In a wide-ranging interview with NBC News on Tuesday, Biden said: “This is not a third Obama term because … we face a totally different world than we faced in the Obama/Biden administration.”

“President Trump has changed the landscape. It’s become America first, it’s been America alone,” he added.
