US President Joe Biden will meet the leaders of Australia, India, and Japan on Friday in his efforts to rein in the growing military and economic power of China in Asia and the world.

The White House said that the meeting, held by countries known as the Quadruple Security Dialogue Group, will demonstrate the importance that Biden attaches to the Indian / Pacific region.

The virtual summit will focus on ways to combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19), cooperation in economic growth, and the climate crisis.

India and Australia emphasized the importance of security cooperation in the region, which had been reinforced by previous lower-level meetings of the four countries.

A senior Biden administration official said that the meeting will announce financial arrangements to support the capabilities of manufacturing anti-virus vaccines in India, which New Delhi urged to confront China's expanding vaccine diplomacy.

The United States also wants to strengthen its relations with allies and partners as China's influence grows in Asia and beyond. Washington says the additional production capacity for vaccines will be used for vaccination efforts in Southeast Asia, where Beijing is vying for influence.

The online meeting will be attended by President Biden, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga

Ob the other hand, the "New York Times"  said that US President Joe Biden is facing sharp criticism for announcing plans to organize a global summit on democracy.

Critics of the US president assert that it is not America's business to direct other countries towards the democratic path.

And that the new administration must heal the wounds of democracy after supporters of former President Trump invaded Congress headquarters in Washington, DC, on January 6.

Among the specific promises of Biden in foreign policy was his pledge to hold a global summit on democracy in his first year in power, with the aim of taking a declared stand against the authoritarian and populist trends that have arisen during the previous period, and which Biden and his advisors view as a threat to Western political values.
