President Joe Biden had a phone call with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to discuss the latter’s recent visit to Ukraine, the White House stated on Tuesday.

“The leaders affirmed their commitment to continue providing security and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine in the face of ongoing atrocities by Russia,” the statement read.

“They also welcomed ongoing cooperation with allies and partners to impose severe costs on Russia for its unprovoked and unjustified war.”

Biden has described Russia’s actions in Ukraine as a “genocide.”

“Yes, I called it genocide because it has become clearer and clearer that Putin is just trying to wipe out the idea of being able to be Ukrainian,” he told reporters before departing Iowa. “The evidence is mounting.”
