US President Joe Biden thanked President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for the Egyptian efforts to stop the escalation in Gaza between Israel and the Palestinian resistance movement.
In a statement, Biden said,” I thank President Sisi Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and senior Egyptian officials who played a central role in the diplomacy of the ceasefire in Gaza.”
The Egyptian state succeeded in approving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip after extensive contacts with the Islamic Jihad movement and the Israeli side. The Egyptian moves were crowned with success in stopping the bloodshed in Gaza, amid a state of popular and official welcome across the Palestinian territories.
In the same context, United Nations (UN) Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland welcomed the Egyptian efforts to mediate to restore calm in the Gaza Strip, stressing the United Nations’ commitment to doing everything in its power to end the ongoing escalation.
