US President Joe Biden renewed his commitment to providing Africa with COVID-19 vaccine during a meeting with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, RT reported on Friday.
Biden pledged to send 17 million doses from Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to Africa.
Last month, the White House announced that the US aims to purchase 500 million Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine doses of Pfizer to donate to the developing countries.
The Biden administration is still negotiating with several companies to reach the best deal, however, the US is keen to widen its global participation in the vaccine sharing process.
In the same context, Bloomberg highlighted that the US will distribute the doses to the developing countries through COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX).
Regarding France’s pledge of sending vaccine doses to poor and developing countries, the French President announced, saying: “We will pass from 60 million to 120 million doses offered.”
