Bibliotheca Alexandrina Inaugurates Annual Book Fair

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina inaugurated on Monday, its annual book fair, which is held in cooperation with the Egyptian General Book Authority and the Egyptian and Arab Publishers Associations.

The book fair will run until July 28, 2022.  It was inaugurated by Dr. Mohamed Suleiman; Head of the Cultural Communication Sector at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (AB), Dr. Haitham El-Hajj Ali, President of the Egyptian Book Authority, Dr. Nazir Ayad, Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy, Saeed Abdu, President of the Egyptian Publishers Union, and Mohamed Rashad, President of the Arab Publishers Union.

The opening ceremony was witnessed by Eng. Hoda Al-Mikati, General Coordinator of the AB, Mr. Mohamed Akl, Head of the Financial and Administrative Sector of AB, Eng. Youssef Salah, Head of Information Technology Sector, Eng. Hisham Mortada, Head of Engineering Sector, Brigadier Khaled Saeed, Director of Security Department, Dr. Sameh Fawzy, Senior Researcher at the Library, and Dr. Ashraf Farraj, Consultant the library.

The book fair is held under the slogan: "Awareness and Building the Human Being", where the program and cultural content focus on the awareness and building of the human being.

This year, the fair includes 75 cultural events, with the participation of more than 300 speakers and lecturers.

The cultural program accompanying the Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Book Fair is considered a cultural festival for the intellectuals of Alexandria in particular and for the intellectuals of Egypt and the Arab world in general.

The fair book management designed cultural program that includes events that vary in culture, arts, and literature.

The cultural program accompanying the Bibliotheca Alexandrina book fair in its seventeenth version also presents an important set of workshops on the arts of writing novels - short stories - scripts - radio dramas - very short stories - criticism workshop) in addition to a translation workshop and an Arabic calligraphy workshop.

A number of prominent names will participate in this year's version of the AB book fair, led by the novelist Ibrahim Abdel Meguid, Dr. Haitham Al-Haj Ali, d. Osama Al-Azhari, President's adviser for Religion Affairs, Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Dr. Osama Al-Shazly, Dr. Jamal Yaqout, writer Omar Taher, journalist Sayed Mahmoud, novelist and poet Alaa Khaled, translator Hisham Fahmy, novelist Dr. Reem Bassiouni, and writer Walid Fikri, Dr. Muhammad Sadiq and others.
