Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) was lit up in gold in the past two days in a gesture of solidarity with the patients of Borg El-Arab University Hospital's Pediatric Oncology Center. This came as the activities of the 2nd edition of International Alexandria Hematology Conference kicked off.

The conference is held annually by the Alexandria Pediatric Oncology Charity (APOC) under the patronage of the President of Alexandria University Dr. Issam El-Kordi, Dean of the faculty of medicine, Dr. Wael Nabil, and Executive Director of Alexandria University Hospitals Dr. Tamer Abdullah.

The conference will discuss the most important and the latest medical research, global therapeutic recommendations in the treatment of leukemia children, and stem cell transplants, amid the attendee of pediatric oncology professors from Egypt and worldwide.

Experts and heads of the major departments of pediatric oncology in Egypt at the National Cancer Institute at Cairo University, 57357 Children's Cancer Hospital as well as professors from all Egyptian universities are set to participate in the conference.

The APOC is keen to annually hold its annual international conference on cancer and blood diseases at the end of winter to present the latest medical developments in the field of pediatric cancer and blood disorders.

It is worth mentioning that Burg El-Arab University Hospital is the first governmental university hospital specializing in treating pediatric cancer free of charge in Egypt.

In addition, the hospital provided medical treatment to more than 1500 children with cancer during 2018 and 2019.
