Best FIFA Football Awards Ceremony to Kick Off Today

The glittering ceremony of the 2019 Best FIFA Football Awards is set to take place on Monday evening in Milan, Italy.

The Ceremony will be held at the Teatro Alla Scala. Liverpool's defender Virgil Van Dijk, Juventus' Cristiano Ronaldo, and Barcelona's Lionel Messi were named on the 3-man shortlist for the prestigious accolade, which recognizes the best male player over the last 12 months.

Whereas England's Lucy Bronze goes to head with USA's Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe were nominated for the women's award.

The iconic Egyptian star Mohamed Salah was named on the 10-man shortlist, before being excluded from the list on September 2.

Van Dijk could be considered as a favorite to be crowned as the world’s best footballer in recognition of his remarkable season at Anfield as he led the Reds to claim the UEFA Champions League.

It is worth mentioning that FIFA announced on Tuesday, September 17 that Ruud Gullit and Ilaria D’Amico would present the Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony.

Last year, Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric won the men’s prize for the player in the 2018 award.
