Beni Hasan receives Vatican Ambassador to Cairo

On Friday, Beni Hasan site, Minya, received the Vatican ambassador to Cairo Nicolas Henry alongside a delegation consisted of the embassy’s staff members.

The director of the Middle Kingdom of Egypt's antiquities department Gamal el Samsatawy welcomed the visitors.

They toured the 16th administrative region rulers’ tombs that date back to the Middle Kingdom including Khety’s tomb, and Khnumhotep’s one.

During the visit, the ambassador was impressed by the sports scene depicted on the tombs’ walls and their inscriptions, alongside the scenes portrayed daily life in ancient Egypt.

Moreover, he praised the Egyptian civilization, its history, and antiquities. He also promised to visit the site once again assuring the accuracy of applying protection measure against COVID-19.

In the same context, the head of EU delegation to Cairo Christian Berger visited Tuna El Gebel, Minya and he admired Petosiris and Isadora’s tombs due to its inscriptions.

In addition, he was amazed by touring the mesmerizing sacred basements that created for Thoth goddess, birds and animals.
