The office of Belize Prime Minister Johnny Briceno said in a statement on Monday that he tested positive for Coronavirus.
He will remain in isolation for the next two weeks, before being tested again.
In another context, the Belize Ministry of Health said Monday that Brazil has recorded 5,183 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours and 113 deaths.
Belize, formerly known as British Honduras, is a Caribbean country located on the northeastern coast of Central America.
