Beirut Attacks: Armed Forces Control Scene, Death Toll Rises to 6

Lebanese Red Cross organization announced moments that the death toll of the latest Beirut attacks on Thursday rose to six, on the other hand, the number of injured increased to 30.

Currently, the scene of the gunfire attacks see cautious calmness after unites from the Lebanese army and security forces were deployed on the site to stop the fights, in addition, strict security measures were imposed on all passing cars, and passerby.

Several escalations erupted by heavy gunfire activity during a march by Hezbollah, and its ally Amal movement members towards the Palace of Justice.

Lebanese Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi informed reports that snipers and gunmen shot a number of protestors in the head from rooftops, in addition, four B7 rockets were fired on the scene.

The protestors were heading a demonstration against the presence of a judge who leading Beirut Port Blast 2020, and they were asking for his removal.

Later on, a heavy fire exchange between the shooters and other persons involved in the scene, therefore, strong security units were deployed in the scene, alongside the arrival of ambulances.

Furthermore, the Lebanese army threatened to fire any armed man inside the scene, rooftops, and streets.

The Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati released a statement urging all parties to self-control, and stop the violence. In addition, Mikati called for an emergency meeting with security leaders in the country.

President Michel Aoun revealed that he is following the escalated clashes with the Minister of Defence, the Minister of Interior Affairs, and the army's senior leaders.

He said in a statement released by the Presidency that there will be a strict investigation regarding the latest security crises, and he will follow all the updates.

The President also added that protesting in the streets is not the way or the scene for any objection, asserting, that all security forces will do their mission in obtaining peace, and stability.

It is worthy to mention that Lebanon passes through a fierce status of political unrest, even after the new government took the office a few weeks ago.

The latest violent attacks are considered the strongest in the last ten years, in addition, they could be one of the crises Lebanon faces that resulted from Beirut Port Blast 2020.
