Ahead of royal mummies parade... Know more about Thutmose I and II

King Thutmose I and his son King Thutmose II, will be part of the long-awaited royal mummies parade, which will be held on April 3.

Before the parade, get to know a few facts about kings Thutmose I and Thutmose II.

King Thutmose I, 18th-dynasty king of ancient Egypt. He ascended to the throne upon reaching forty, after the death of King Amenhotep I.

It is believed that his reign extended for more than ten years. He and his primary wife, Ahmose, had many children, including Queen Hatshepsut.

Thutmose I is depicted as a warrior-king and had expanded during his reign to the south.

The military campaigns opened new opportunities for trade exchange as well as diplomatic and economic ties with the neighboring countries.

The king's mummy was discovered in an excellent state of preservation, in the Deir El-Bahari cache (TT 320) west of Luxor in 1881, inside coffins made by his son, King Thutmose II.

As for King Thutmose II, he took his legitimacy in ruling after marrying his half-sister Hatshepsut, daughter of Queen Ahmose. He was succeeded by his son, Thutmose II, on the throne.

The king's mummy was found in the Deir El-Bahari cache. Studies showed that he had died aged 30.
