World famous Egyptian civil engineer Hani Azer expressed his gratitude for the architectural boom witnessed in the roads and bridges network in Egypt.

Azer revealed that he supervised the construction of these roads and bridges after President Abdel Fattah El Sisi told him: "I want bridges and huge tunnels built by Egyptian hands not foreign ones."

This came during Azer’s seminar at the Cairo International Book Fair, in which he was chosen as an ambassador of the fair around the world.

Menna Al-Sharqawi, the director of the seminar, talked with Azer about his famous architectural projects, especially the train station in Berlin.

He said” this mission was assigned to me to save Germany's image before the world, as this station had major technical and engineering problems in addition to multiple problems in managing it, I used to sit with my team daily for about 12 hours trying to solidify the idea that I did not come to hold those responsible accountable.”

“After writing the problems in points with plans to solve them, I submitted a report to my manager who strongly supported me”

Azer added: “They are two tunnels south of Port Said and two tunnels north of Ismailia, as many people do not know that they were dug in the water of the canal with a depth of 40 meters by drilling machines that had a diameter of 13 meters. The young engineers traveled to Germany for months for training on how to use these machines.”

“German experts were impressed by those young engineers who managed to solve various problems while working,” Azer noted.

He added: “We brought about 500 engineering students to gain experience, as they were asking the workers in every detail”, “I am keen on supporting the field of university and pre-university technical education.”
