AUC Organizes Conference on Improving Children, Youth, Family Lives

American University in Cairo (AUC) launched the opening session of the 2nd regional conference in the Middle East and North Africa in community psychology, named "Promoting Society to Achieve a Better Life for Children, Youth and Families,"

The event is organized by the Community Psychology Program on Thursday, March 5, 2020; 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Moataz El Alfi Hall, AUC Campus in New Cairo.

This conference will include applied researchers, community workers and policymakers from across the region to network, and share effective ways to improve the lives of children, youth and families by enhancing community capacity, evidence-based practices and effective policies.

Meanwhile, the conference will showcase innovative community initiatives, empirical research and high-impact community programs, effective policy work and capacity building.

It will also address topics on bullying, group identity, colonization and occupation, wars, drug use, education, health, children with special abilities, orphans and children in care homes, refugees and refugee camps, rural areas, societies, the role of social workers and psychologists, mental health, work environment, informal education, and others.

On other hand, the event will witness a group of participants and speakers from various disciplines, including the non-profit sector, multilateral organizations, social institutions, corporate social responsibility, government departments, public policies, public health, sociology, social work, community development, and psychology applied social, community psychology, as well as other areas that focus on analyzing and initiating positive systemic change.
