Astonishing Egyptian Participation at 12th CJF

The 12th edition of the Cairo Jazz Festival (CJF) has witnessed the wonderful participation of Egyptian artists. This edition had various performances of Egypt's jazz stars such as Ali El Helbwi, Samer George, and Mai Kamal.

El Helbawi stunned the audience with a magical sold-out performance. He shared the stage with the Romanian clarinetist and saxophonist Alex Simu.

Performed for almost an hour, El Helbawi presented many hits including "Mirsal Li Habibty" (A Letter to My Beloved), "Taqet Noor" (Ray of Light), and "Nasiem El Wasl" (Breeze of Love).

Also, popular Bassist Samer George was one of Egypt's featured artists at this edition. Moreover, he released his new album "2020" on the sidelines of the festival.

The new album featured 9 new originals and it is his fourth full-length album, in addition, he performed the new album live for the first time.

George's performance witnessed a number of guest performers such as Doaa and George Nabil.

Another name that shone at the festival is Mai Kamal, iconic Egyptian singer Afaf Radi's daughter, due to her strong vocals and unforgettable performance.

She shared the stage with skilled musicians such as drummer Samo El Taweel, pianist and lute player Robert Rashad, saxophonist Mohamed Wave, bassist Moataz Kamal, and percussionist Ayman Mabrouk.

Furthermore, she performed several selections from oriental and western music for many artists such as Fayrouz and Souad Massi.

Also, the festival spotted the lights on different successful Egyptian jazz projects such as Cairo Big Band, Noha Fekry, and Rami Attallah, Ahmed Nazmi, Faisal Foad, and the award-winning Fathy Salama with celebrated chanter Mahmood Altuhami.

The 12th edition of the festival is taking place between 13 and 20 November.

More than 10 countries will participate such as Hungary, Switzerland, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Italy in the event performing unforgettable masterpieces for 8 days.
