Aston Villa expressed their interest in signing Chelsea's winger Pedro Rodríguez in the upcoming January transfers.

Telegraph reported that Aston Villa would present an official offer to the Blues' management to sign Pedro.

"Dean Smith, the Villa manager, will look to bolster his attack in January and a cut-price deal for Pedro may be possible, because his contract expires in seven months, when he can leave on a free transfer," Telegraph said.

The 32-year-old player, who joined Chelsea in 2015 from Barcelona, could add some experience to the Villains, who are now ranking 15th in the Premier League.

Who is Pedro?

Pedro is a Spanish international player, who began his football carer the Barcelona B set up. He made his debut with the Blaugrana first-class team in 2008 as he managed to win three Champions League titles with Barca.

In 2010, the 32-year-old player made his first cap with his national team and was chosen for the 2010 World Cup tournament, held in South Africa, where he guided his team to claim the title.

In July, Aston Villa  completed the signing of Egypt’s Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet from Turkey’s Kasimpasa in a deal worth up to £8.75 million.

He became the 12th Egyptian player joining the Premier League after Ahmed Hossam Mido, Ahmed Fathi, Hossam Ghaly, Mohamed Shawky, Amr Zaki, Ahmed Elmohamady, Gedo, Mohamed Salah, Mohamed Elneny, Ahmed Hegazi, and Ramadan Sobhi.
