Armenia announced today, Sunday, that 40 soldiers were killed in a new Azerbaijani attacks targeting Karabakh region, according to Al-Arabiya.

Armenia and Azerbaijan accused each other on Sunday of violating a new humanitarian ceasefire in fighting over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh, hours after it was agreed, according to Reuters.

The truce agreed on Saturday came into force at midnight after a week-old Russian-brokered ceasefire failed to halt the worst fighting in the South Caucasus since the 1990s.

Armenia announced, on Saturday, that it shot down two Azerbaijani drones after entering its airspace.

On the other hand, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry denied reports of the Armenian side claiming that two Azerbaijani drones had been destroyed while entering its airspace.

“The reports of two Azerbaijani drones downed in the sky over Armenia are a groundless lie,” the ministry said, according to TASS.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh stressed that his country is concerned about the missiles and bullets fired into the Iranian territory as a result of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Unfortunately, there was disturbing news that several military missiles fell on the border areas inside Iranian territory as a result of the military battles in Nagorno-Karabakh, this is unacceptable at all,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman warned, according to Russia Today.

“If such shelling continues, the Islamic Republic of Iran will not remain indifferent.”
