Armenian President Armen Sarkissian thanked the Egyptian people for their generous hospitality, revealing that he has many relatives and friends who lived in Egypt.

He also hailed the Egyptians’ stance when the Armenians lost their homes due to the ethnic cleansing carried out by Turkey during the difficult time of the Armenians.

The Armenian president called for stopping fueling the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh and for stopping the bloodshed, stressing the need for Turkey to exit the ongoing war with Azerbaijan.

Sarkissian added, during his meeting with journalist Amr Abdel-Hamid on the "Public Opinion" program broadcast on the "TeN" channel, today, Thursday, that

“Putin said that Russia has agreements with Armenia and not with the Nagorno-Karabakh region, and it will defend them,” said Sarkissian in TV statements on TEN channel on Thursday.

He added that his country will recognize that referendum, noting that “We want to simplify and we do not want to complicate the matter at the present time.”

“We will recognize the Karabakh region when everyone recognizes it," the Armenian president said.

He stressed that he does not want to return to the time of ethnic cleansing, saying that Turkey must get out of the ongoing conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Please, Turkey, get out of the conflict."

He pointed out that Turkey uses all aircraft and equipment to support Azerbaijan, noting that no ethnic cleansing will ever be allowed in Nagorno-Karabakh.
