The Egyptian Armed Forces said on Sunday that 77 takfiris were killed in anti-terror operations at several strategic directions from July 22 till August 30.

Two highly-dangerous takfiri elements were among those killed in the operations, Military Spokesman Tamer El Refaei said in a statement.

El Refaei added that some weapons and ammunition were seized.

The spokesman pointed out that another terrorist was injured during the operations, and was moved to one of the Armed Forces hospitals for treatment and interrogation.

As part of the Armed Forces operations to uproot terrorism, in cooperation with the combat units of the Interior Ministry, anti-terror units continue launching raids targeting terrorist hideouts, as well as arms and ammunition caches nationwide.

Air forces destroyed 317 terrorist hiding places and explosives caches in North Sinai as well as ten four-wheeled vehicles, used in the terror operations.

On the western front, the Air Forces destroyed nine terrorist vehicles during their attempt to sneak into the western borders.

The operation coincided with the Naval Forces conducting security patrols to protect the state's strategic fronts and cut the terrorist elements' supply lines via the sea.

The operations resulted in the martyrdom and injury of three officers and four soldiers, the statement pointed out.

The statement reiterated the armed forces and police's persistence to eradicate terrorism and achieve security and stability for the great Egyptian people.
