Arab Poetry House.. Past Authenticity

Arabic Poetry House is located in El Azhar area next to the south-eastern side of Beit Al-Harrawi, and the north-eastern facade overlooks Haret El Sit Wasila.

It was built in1664, Some inscriptions on the Maqaad of the house highlight that it was built by the brothers Abd El Haq and Lotfy El Kenany in the late 17th century. It was renovated at the begining of the 21th century.

The Culture Minister has decided to convert this house into a center for ” the Arabic Poetry House” within the creativity centers of the Cultural Development Fund, in order to  provide many cultural and literary events.

The Fund has provided the House with all the necessary equipment which ensure performance of its creative message to serve the Arabic poetry and literature in general.
