Arab Parliament Speaker Adel Abdul-Rahman Al-Asoumi expressed his deep concern about the recent decision by the Iranian authorities to start enriching uranium to 60 percent using sophisticated centrifuges. Al-Asoumi considered it a dangerous indicator that exacerbates existing doubts about the end uses of the Iranian nuclear program.

Al-Asoumi called on the international community, in particular the countries involved in the ongoing negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear program, to put pressure on it and obligate it to stop its policy that threatens the nuclear security situation in the region.

The Arab Parliament Speaker called on the countries concerned to take into account the necessity of reaching a comprehensive agreement that includes clear, specific and long-term measures that prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons or developing the capabilities necessary for that, including its ballistic missile program, which is no less dangerous in its threat for the security of the region.

The Arab Parliament Speaker stressed that the ongoing negotiations should not be limited to dealing with the nuclear aspects related to the Iranian program only, but rather should include reaching arrangements that put an end to the continuing Iranian interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries and address the concerns of the countries of the region about Iran's regional policies.
