Eng. Mohsen Salah, President of the Arab Contractors Company (ACC), explained that have restored the historic Baron Empain Palace in Heliopolis district, north of Cairo, which is considered a unique, wonderful masterpiece in Egypt.

The palace ranks among historical and tourist landmarks of the country within the last decades.

It has regained its luster after a comprehensive restoration process, carried out by the Arab Contractors Company under the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Engineering Department of  the Armed Forces, for the palace.

The palace encompasses 23572 square meters in Heliopolis district, and consists of a basement and two floors (ground + first) along with the garden.

Eng. Salah pointed out that the Arab Contractors Company carried out the structural reinforcement of the palace roofs, restoring them, restoring the facades, cleaning and restoring the decorative elements in them.

Engineers of the company completed deficiencies of the doors and windows, removed most of the ceilings and plaster cornices. They also restored the marble columns and statues, wooden doors, and metal windows.

They restored the decorative iron windows over the main facades and the wall painting above the main entrance, and marble statues of the palace.

On the other hand, the Arab Contractor Company (ACC), a constitution giant, and Engineering Department of the Armed Forces opened today El Merghany Overpass at Heliopolis district, north of Cairo and other projects today.

The overpass comes within a plan to develop and raise the efficiency of its traffic hubs, and it is considered a civilized move to mitigate heavy traffic jams caused by the tunnel under Salah Salem Road.

It is a car bridge crosses over Al-Merghany Street where it intersects with Al-Oruba Road.

The length of the newly opened overpass is 550 meters, width is 21 meters, and it includes 3 traffic lanes in both directions.

The Engineering Department and the Arab Contractors Company were keen on carrying out this overpass in innovative ways that are used for the first time in Egypt.

Engineers used pre-cast beams to endure more stress.

Length of a beam ranges between 40-45 m and is emptied from the inside and weighs 210 tons.

Twenty-one beams in shape of letter "V" were used to speed the achievement and save 30% of the economic cost of the project.

Also the Arab Contractors Co, and the Engineering Department opened today the "Hisham Barakat" overpass on Al Tayaran Street where it intersects with the Highway.

It aims at eliminating traffic congestion on Al-Tayaran Street and the intersection of the Highway at Martyr Hisham Barakat Square (which is previously known as Rabia Al-Adawiya Sq.,).

This overpass contributes to the flow of traffic and saves time of faring.

Length of this overpass is 250 meters and it includes 3 traffic lanes in each direction with a width of 20 meters.

It has 46 piles, 11 bases, 11 columns, 11 cushions and 70 pre- cast beams.

The ACC and the Engineering Department of the Armed Forces also opened El Amiriya Overpass Bridge today.

The project eliminates the traffic congestion at the intersections of Amiriya Square, north east to Cairo.

Traffic comes from the direction of the Water Utility Street (Merfaq El Myah) to Al-Sawah Street and the extension of Port Said Street towards Kablat Street over the overpass thus traffic flow smoothly in the other direction below the bridge. The length of the overpass is about 630 m.

It extends from the Water Utility Street to Al Sawah Street and includes the beginning of the Water Utility Street with a length of 520 m with width of 11.10 m next to a descending sector along Port Said Street towards the Kablat Street and another at Al Sawah Street with a length of 225 m and a width that ranges between 8.30 m and 9.30 m.

The overpass 55 piles, 17 columns, 40 pre-cast beams, and 6 metal bars.

Engineers overcame many challenges, including avoiding huge sanitation complexes in the region, an internal width of 5 meters, perting sewage lines for pipes in diameter 1200 mm, and water lines in diameters of 300, 400, 600 and 800 mm in addition to Power cables, gas and communication lines.
