 AOI Cooperates with Point North, Canada

General Abdel Moneim Al Tarras, President of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), stated that President  Abdel Fattah El Sisi has tasked him to deepen the rate of the local manufacturing, transfer, and localization of technologies of the railway train industry.

The president also directed him to develop, modernize the manufacturing and production capabilities along with qualifying the workforce at the SEMAF factory for railway trains in accordance with international quality standards.

 AOI Signs Contract for cooperation Point North Co., Canada

The AOI signed a contract to cooperate with Point North Company, a Canadian company specialized in technical consultations.

This cooperation comes as a result of a recent visit paid by Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, PM, to the SEMAF factory in Helwan.

Senior officials agreed to take executive steps to start developing and modernizing of the SEMAF factory in accordance with a time plan.

Modernizing the factory will be in cooperation with global experiences, which would contribute to achieve the comprehensive development of the railway system and improve the service provided to citizens in Egypt.

General Al Tarras clarified that the contract was made in the light of the Arab Organization for Industrialization’s plan to develop and modernize the manufacturing capabilities and train human cadres in the SEMAF plant through the cooperation with Point North.

He indicated that by October 2020, Egypt will have a factory at the highest technical level which is comparable to the best global ones in this area.

He added that the development plan aims to develop SEMAF and raise the quality of its various products which include railway and subway cars and the locomotive industry according to international quality specifications.

Moreover, sectors of research and design will be developed along with raising the efficiency of engineers and technical cadres in the factory by training them at home and abroad.

Al Tarras stressed the capacity of the factory will raise from 300 carriages to 1,000 ones annually and manufacture diesel and electric locomotives.

He vowed to achieve high-level safety requirements both in carriages of the railway and the subway.

He added that the AOI has a future vision to open outlets in foreign markets, especially in Africa and the Arab region.

On the other hand, Point North International officials praised the experience of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, its industrial and human capabilities and its ability to develop technologies by scientific methods to achieve the highest rates of local manufacturing in accordance with international quality systems.

There is an agreement to open new horizons for cooperation  AOI and the Canadian company to introduce modern railway systems and the deepening of technology and training, to meet the needs of comprehensive development projects in Egypt.

General Al Tarras added that the Egyptian market is large, promising and constitutes strategic importance for the Arab and African regions.

He praised the SEMAF factory as one of the industrial monuments specialized in the railway and metro industries in the Arab and African regions and the Middle East.
