Alexander Darchiyev, head of the North American department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on Saturday that any possible seizure of Russian assets by the United States (US) will destroy bilateral relations.
“We warn the Americans of the dire consequences of such actions that will permanently harm bilateral relations, and which is neither in their interest nor in ours,” Alexander Darchiev told TASS.
Darchiyev also said that the influence of the US on Ukraine had increased to the point that “the Americans are increasingly becoming a direct party to the conflict.”
He added that Russia had warned the United States that diplomatic relations would be severely damaged and could even be severed if Russia was designated a state sponsor of terrorism.
It is worth metioning that, Russia’s relations with the West have deteriorated sharply since Moscow sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine on February 24, in what it described as a “special military operation”.
