Antiquities Takes Precautionary Measures in Archaeological Sites

Dr. Khaled Al-Anani the Tourism and Antiquities Minister meet distinguished officials who are concerned with antiquities to discuss the archeological openings plan according to the timetable set for the completion of projects for the restoration and development of these areas.

The officials included Dr. Mustafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Antiquities Supreme Council , Brigadier Hisham Samir, Assistant Minister for Engineering and Historic Cairo, Moamen Othman the Museums Sector President and Ahmed Obaid, Assistant Minister for the Minister’s Office Sector.

These openings include the Baron Palace in Heliopolis district, the Sharm El-Sheikh museums, Kafr El-Sheikh, the Royal Vehicles of Bulaq, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, Cairo Airport and the new administrative capital.

During the meeting, a number of precautionary controls and procedures were identified for the work of Egyptian and foreign archaeological missions in various archaeological sites in light of Coronavirus pandemic.

On other hand, Dr. Waziri explained that these precautions obligate each mission to provide the necessary sanitation and health safety tools for them, measure daily temperatures for workers and members of the mission before starting work,

In addition, the precautions include wearing masks and gloves throughout the work period, and cleaning all tools used in excavation work periodically, and that the number of employees at the excavation site does not exceed 30 inpiduals in open spaces.

Moreover, the officials urged workers to maintain safe distancing in general and during the excavation work in closed cemeteries, so that the people’s number inside the cemetery or burial well does not exceed 4 people, including the antiquities inspector.
