Minister of Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani received today the Japanese Ambassador in Cairo Masaaki Nuki and a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to discuss preparations for the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) by the end of 2020.

This came in light of the imminent completion of the museum's construction work in cooperation with the Japanese side.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed possibilities of future Japanese assistance for the operation of the museum after its opening in an attempt to complement the successful partnership between the two nations.

It is worth mentioning that the grand cultural edifice was established through two Japanese soft loans with a total value of $ 750 million.
