American Chargé d'Affaires Nicole Shampaine hailed Egypt’s efforts to empower women as she met on Wednesday with a number of Egyptian high-ranking officials.

In her address at Microsoft Egypt’s "Empowered Women, Empowered Egypt" summit, Shampaine sheds light on the U.S. Government’s $30 billion investment in Egypt’s economic development, including significant investments in education, exchanges, and entrepreneurship programs that promote equal access and opportunities for women and girls.

Shamaigne also took this occasion to highlight the incredible advances and achievements that women have made while acknowledging the distance remaining to unleash the potential of women in Egypt and across the world.

"We have been supporting 19 STEM high schools, such as the Maadi Girls STEM School, and entrepreneurship and exchange programs, such as the TechWomen and the Women Entrepreneurs Network, that have trained and provided mentorship to thousands of women, giving them the skills and connections necessary to succeed," Shampaine explained.

The event was attended by Egypt's Minister of the Environment Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of International Cooperation Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat.
