The Egyptian embassy in Beirut continues to communicate with the Egyptian community members in Beirut and the relevant Lebanese authorities around the clock to check on the conditions of Egyptian citizens residing in Lebanon and to provide all forms of necessary assistance to them.

In a press statement, Ambassador Yasser Mahmoud Hashem, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consulate Affairs and Egyptian Expats revealed the death of two Egyptian citizens, Ibrahim Abdel-Mohsen El-Qaffas and Aly Ismail Shehata, in Tuesday's massive blast, which took place in Lebanese Capital of Beirut.

Hashem vowed to take all necessary measures to transfer their bodies back home.

Moreover, the ambassador added that another Egyptian national, Roshdy Ahmed El-Gamal, has been reported missing since the explosion, noting that some of his close friends believe he was near the blast scene.

"The embassy is following up on the case with the Lebanese authorities," the diplomat continued.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi spoke by phone, Wednesday morning, with Lebanese President Michel Aoun to convey his heartfelt condolences to the victims of the massive explosions that ripped through Beirut’s port yesterday, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

The Beirut blast left dozens dead and hundreds wounded.

President Sisi offered his deepest sympathies to the Lebanese government and people.

He also stressed the Egyptian government and people’s solidarity with the brothers in Lebanon and reiterated that Egypt stands ready to assist and support Lebanon in its ordeal.

The explosion comes just two days before the international tribunal investigating the killing of former Prime Minister Rafik El-Hariri, in 2005, is set to announce its decision.
