Algeria's parliament speaker, Mouad Bouchareb, resigned from his post on Tuesday, Ennahar TV said.

Bouchareb submitted his resignation three months after longtime President Abdelaziz Bouteflika resigned.

Two days ago, Bouchareb announced his rejection to the parliamentary votes demanding his resignation.

On Sunday, the deputies of People's National Assembly Speaker,  decided to withdraw confidence from Bouchareb.

Algeria has been suffering escalating violence and political instability following the resignation of Bouteflika.

Bouteflika, who has been in power for 20 years, resigned following nationwide protests against his rule.

President of the Upper House, Abdelkader Besalaha, was appointed as interim president.

Protests are continuing in Algeria demanding the removal of the elite who are ruling the country since independence from France in 1962.
